Hello. We are a K-12 school and are giving RV a trial run here. We like what we see so far however there is one thing we are struggling with. We are trying to create a simple high school class rotation schedule.

Does anyone have something similar set up or ideas to make this work that they are willing to share with us?

Thanks.

Hi there Peter,

I'll be happy to provide some insight on that.  Can you give me a little more detail on what you are wanting to do?   Are you wanting certain announcements on certain days?  Like green day content and white day content or are you looking more at the content changing every hour?

Ashleigh, thank you. I have looked at that article and it should help me.

Ray, below is an example of our high school schedule. As an example we will use the end of Block 1 and the beginning of Block 2, I would like a presentation to appear at 8:10 am saying "Block 1 has ended. Block 2 begins at 8:14 am. Please proceed to your Block 2 class." with a widget showing a real time clock. Then at 8:14 am the that presentation will end and a new presentation showing CNN News or something. Then another presentation will appear at the end of Block 2 and so forth.

I have created the presentations but I seem to have the timing for them to appear wrong.

Thanks.

Peter

Hi Peter,
Looking at the above schedule and comparing it to the current schedule (would it be marked as HS?) it looks like the Timelines for each of the Presentations (aka Blocks) within the Schedules app is set to Always.  Can you try adding the Timeline in each of the Presentations/Blocks as mentioned above and try running the Schedule again?  You can do this by clicking on the Presentation name > unselect Always in Timeline > setting the correct Timeline.

Thanks!

Peter - ok, this one is going to get a bit deep, so set aside a few minutes so that you can concentrate.  It's just a math problem.  I'll get it started.

So your schedule would look like this.....

Presentation A - start time 7:55am end time 8:10am
Presentation Block 1 has ended - start time 8:10am end time 8:14am - duration = 240  (this means the presentation will play for 4 minutes)
Presentation B - start time 8:14am end time 9:08am
Presentation Block 2 has ended - start time 9:08am end time 9:12am - duration = 240
Presentation C - start time 9:12am end time 10:04am
Presentation Block 3 has ended - start time 10:04am end time 10:08am - duration = 240
Presentation D - start time 10:08am end time 11:00am
Presentation Block 4 has ended - start time 11:00am end time 11:04am - duration = 240
Presentation E - start time 11:04am end time 11:56am
Presentation Block 5 has ended (or maybe there isn't a block 5 has ended presentation, maybe you just go straight to your lunch presentation here - I don't know) start time 11:56am end time 12:00pm duration =240
Presentation Lunch - start time 12:00pm end time 12:28pm
Presentation Lunch has ended - start time 12:28pm end time 12:32pm - duration = 240
Presentation F - start time 12:32pm end time 1:24pm
Presentation Block 6 has ended - start time 1:24pm end time 1:28pm - duration = 240
Presentation G - start time 1:28pm end time 2:20pm
Presentation Block 7 has ended - start time 2:20pm end time 2:24pm - duration = 240
Presentation H - start time 2:24pm end time 3:15pm

There might be a couple of twists to add to this as you go.  For example, what do you want on the screen from 3:15pm until 7:55am?   What do you want playing on the weekends?

Also - if Presentation A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are all the same presentation, then you can make this a little simpler.

Presentation A - start time 7:55am end time 3:15pm
Presentation Block 1 has ended - start time 8:10am end time 8:14am - duration = 240
Presentation Block 2 has ended - start time 9:08am end time 9:12am - duration = 240
Presentation Block 3 has ended - start time 10:04am end time 10:08am - duration = 240
Presentation Block 4 has ended - start time 11:00am end time 11:04am - duration 240
Presentation Block 5 has ended - start time 11:56am end time 12:00pm - duration =240
Presentation Lunch - start time 12:00pm end time 12:28pm - duration = 1680
Presentation Lunch has ended - start time 12:28pm end time 12:32pm - duration = 240
Presentation Block 6 has ended - start time 1:24pm end time 1:28pm - duration = 240
Presentation Block 7 has ended - start time 2:20pm end time 2:24pm - duration = 240

Any time something else is not playing, Presentation A will be playing.

I hope that helps!

That does help a lot. Now the only question is, where do I set the start and end times? inside the HTML in the presentations? Because when I try to do this in Timelines under schedules they only go in increments of 15 minutes.

I have included images below to help you understand what I'm trying to say.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Peter,  You should use our new editor app.  You can get to it 2 ways.
1- just go to schedules.risevision.com
2 - click on the Grid icon to the left of your email address and from the drop down, click on the New UI link to the right of Schedules

Once you are in the new schedules app, you can set times in one minute increments.
