Cannot copy and paste of text widget item into same placeholder

As the title says, I cannot copy and paste an existing text widget item into same placeholder.

To replicate:

  • Create a place holder
  • Add > Content > Text Widget
  • Format as you like - I'm using some of the google-based fonts if that matters
  • Save Text Content
  • Add > Copy
  • Add > Paste
  • Nothing happens
I just tested a small amount - I couldn't paste into a new placeholder either.

I have copy and pasted other placeholder content before, but having no luck with this the last several days.

Ben,

Thanks for pointing this out. I'm going to need to do some more testing before logging a defect, however a cursory check makes me think this is only affecting new presentations. I'm not having trouble copying and pasting widgets in old presentations.

Ben,

I've created a defect for our developers, it can be viewed here.

Ben,

Definitely not just you! Keep an eye on that github defect for news!

Looks like with the new Presentations "App", the ability to copy and paste placeholders and placeholder items is gone. This is a real shame, because it results in having to completely re-create content from scratch multiple times, remembering and manually re-entering all of the configuration options, instead of just duplicating the content, then typing the new text or image URL.

David,

Thanks for feedback in regards to this and the new editor. For the time being, you can continue using the old editor to complete this action. We will make an announcement in our forum if this functionality comes into the new Editor.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, Rob. I think I can probably speak at least for most Rise users in saying that the ability to clone placeholder content is pretty critical to being able to efficiently use the platform. Looking forward to the capacity being restored in the new editor and hoping that it's done before the classic editor is yanked.

David,

Actually this is something I've been informed we are planning to add to the new Editor. Look for it in the weeks to come, and we will be sure to post a community announcement regarding it.

Thanks!

Ben & David,

I'm happy to let you know that this functionality has been included in editor.risevision.com! You can now copy and paste playlist items within a placeholder.

Have a great week!
