Browser hangs when pasting a custom URL with spaces in the Image Widget

I've been converting a bunch of old presentations so I can use them in the new editor. Most of the presentations use Image Item, so my workflow (Google Chrome on OS X) is this:
  1. Open placeholder
  2. Copy URL from Image Item
  3. Add Content > Image Widget
  4. Configure Image Widget > Custom URL
  5. Paste URL
  6. Delete Image Item
If the URL has actual spaces in it, without the %20 character, then step 5 hangs up the browser and I have to kill it. If I first paste it into a new Chrome tab, then Chrome automatically replaces all of the spaces with %20, giving me a new URL to copy/paste.
So, I have a workaround, but it'd be great if the Image Widget could handle spaces in a pasted URL.

Hey Jonathan,

Thanks for providing the exact steps for recreation of this issue, it helps a lot.

Is this happening with images from a 3rd party server, or Rise Storage? I just tested using a file from Rise Storage with a space in the filename, and pasted it using the custom URL. I did not experience a lockup at all, however I did get a prompt to "Please provide a valid URL", which I can remove verification for. Once that is done the image appears normally. I tested this in both Classic and our new editor.

Could you try this out in an incognito window with no browser extensions enabled?

edit; fixed a typo.
