been a way for a few months now I don't see how to add video any more?

Hey guys...been using RV for years for or seasonal business (ski industry). The units in the lobby have been running the same videos for months during the off season. Thought I would add in a few new media player location this year and boy did everything change int he backend! 

Regardless when I try to add video to an existing presentation I no longer see VIDEO as an option to select in the PLAYLIST/ADD. What's going on here? Video is working on current RV players so I know you didn't remove the functionality. 

What am I missing?

Click content above text. This will open the widget store. There you should be able to find the video widget for rise. Also the video item that was there has been depreciated and removed.

Time to move to the newer widgets and possibly the new editor as well.

Sounds like I just need to get with the times. I resisted the new interface before but I'm on board now.

OK, so I'm testing on the new system now. I see that it's HTML5 and thus many of my videos will not play...so I'll have to reprocess a few and move them up to storage, no biggie. 

I've built my test presentation, put in a video (MP4 and about 1 minute at 1280). When I select PREVIEW it plays right away...awesome. When I fire up my RV Media Player (newest design) on Win7 VM I test on it takes well over a minute for the video start, I think there is a message about "still downloading..." or such while all other content such as widgets, photos, etc load up regularly. 

What would put such a delay on the video loading on the Media Player but make it load instantly on the Preview?

perhaps the video is quite 'heavy'

Once you get it cached it should be okay it needs to download completely first time.

Many thanks to William and Darius for jumping in here, you guys rock!

William is spot on, we removed the Video Item, and recommend people move to the Video Widget, and that is outlined in that post he shared, which is also here.

We ran into an issue with some videos last week that we are getting corrected very soon where it would show that message on the Display. Instead of waiting for the fix to roll out, you can kill the Player on the Display, delete all the videos in:

Windows: C:\Users\%SERNAME%\AppData\Local\rvplayer\rise cache\download
OR
Linux: Home\rvplayer\rise cache\download

and restart the Player.
