Basic Authentication in Rise Player?

Our team has been having issues with authentication using the Rise Player. We are pulling a camera feed that requires basic authentication by embedding the username/password in the URL (user:pass@site). However, it doesn't seem that Rise Player is allowing this.

To get around this, we've written a batch script that launches the exact same URL on Google Chrome (because it works on the browser) before launching Rise Player, which then uses the session from Google Chrome to pull the camera.

My question is: Why does URL authentication work in Google Chrome, but not Rise Player? It looks like Rise Player is also chrome.exe, so what sets it apart? Are there any real solutions for this? We would rather not have Google Chrome launch and run in the background while Rise Player runs.

I don't think authentication is supported in Rise Player without some soft of client end workaround. I'll shoot a question over to our developer on the subject and get back with you.
