David,

Google drive hosting is not encouraged as it has lead to some users getting their google drive accounts blocked. You can check this thread for another user's experience using google drive.

Hi MaryJo Arnal,
How are you adding the background image? In the new Editor, you can do so via selecting the gear icon next to the presentation title:

And then choosing the Use Image option to add the link to the Image or using the Storage icon to select the image.

Let us know how you with these.

I am using the old editor . I have rebuilt the presentation using the new widgets so I am hoping that will help once I transfer them over.

MaryJo,

The process is similar for the old editor, just click the gear in the top right, then click edit next to background. This will bring up a background selection screen, where you can select an item from your storage.

MaryJo,

Can you provide a link to the Google Drive image you're trying to use as a background image? We don't recommend using Google Drive to store media for your presentations, as sometimes media gets throttled when Google Drive is being used to serve web content.
