ASUS CHROMEBOX-M004U Desktop
  • 1.4 GHz Intel Celeron 2955U Processor
  • 2GB DDR3 RAM, 16 GB SSD HDD
  • Intel HD graphics

Yesterday I had 4+6+3=13 Chrome boxes in Houston, TX same account that all went down around 10AM CST. The user tried to reboot them but said nothing came on our tech is going out today to see what's going on.

Display Properties of shutdown devices:
Operating System: cros/x86-64
Player Version: RisePlayerPackagedApp 1.24.28
Viewer Version: 1-06-037
Player Browser: Auto Upgrade
Browser:Chrome 42.0.2311.134

I have 2 other chrome devices in Sacramento, CA that are under same sub -account but did not get affected. I'm looking at he Display properties and I see that difference between the ones that are on vs the ones that are off is the Player Version:  1.24.28 vs 1.24.30

Working Devices:
Operating System: cros/x86-64
Player Version: RisePlayerPackagedApp 1.24.30
Viewer Version: 1-06-037
Player Browser: Auto Upgrade
Browser:Chrome 42.0.2311.134

Can you provide some feedback as to why all the devices would go down around the same time and does the player version has anything to do with it.

I have run into devices shutting down randomly before as well but nothing that is so wide spread at the same time.

I'm running schedule as URL that point to our digital menus here is a sample link of what's running on the display.  http://www.dsmenu.com/uph/1253

Hussain,

We did have an update to the player version yesterday, however we did not see any shutdowns as a part of this release.

Ok atleast this explains something why all the displays would shutdown at around same time. As to why they did not boot back up and why the end user could get them up is still a mystery. We will find out more detail later today.
