I would like to add video content to my presentation.  What is the best (FREE) way to do this? I do have a YouTube url and a file I could use.  I am struggling to get the url or the html widget to work.  TIA!!

Heather,

If the URL is to a public file meaning you don't need to log in to see it, you can use the By URL option for the Video Widget. Just open your Presentation at https://apps.risevision.com, go to that Placeholder, select Video, and then select By URL:

Will that work for you?

It is a link to a YouTube video.  Is that alright?  When we hit save and preview we see a black box on our computer screen.  Do you think if we publish it would show and not have the same black box as it does in the preview?

Hi Robb, We changed to a different (free) video widget and on preview the (YouTube) video pops right up and plays.  However, on our tv screen it says, "There is a problem playing the video."  Any suggestions here?   TIA

Ah, being a YouTube video would be the problem. The Video Widget will only use direct links to video files.

Is this the St Libory Presentation?

When I look at it, I also get an error in preview:

I'm thinking that you may be logged into the site that you manage this video at, this is why it is working for you in preview.

If you can store that video in its MP4 or WebM form at a storage repository, you will be able to use that for the Video Widget.

Let me know if I am looking at the wrong Presentation!

This is the video.  I apologize, but can you guide me a bit more on the saving to a storage repository?  Wouldn't that end up as an upload instead of a link?  Would a Google drive link work?  Would that auto-play?

You would have to save the original source video, the file that you uploaded to YouTube in the first place at a specific location that you can access without having to log in. My vote would be to do it at Rise Storage, so I will use that for my example.

You upload the video itself in MP4 or WebM form (if you need to convert to WebM, check out the steps here) to Rise Storage, you add the Video Widget to your Presentation, and then select the video from Storage. Save and Publish,  and that starts it playing in your Presentation.

OR, if you stored it in a different location, you would have to have a direct link to the video in order to use it in the Video Widget. Here is an example of a public WebM file: http://video.webmfiles.org/big-buck-bunny_trailer.webm

I wouldn't recommend using Google Drive, for the reasons mentioned on this recent forum post. Looks like Google Drive will be removing public access to files in Google Drive.

Does that help clarify?
