While I loved the new editor and some new improvements, juts now I found a couple of major problems. I am working on two different options for the same presentation. The overall layout stays the same, i just needed to edit some of it's elements. What I found is that I cannot change the presentation background in my copied presentation. In the original presentation I used image background and, of course, it was copied too. But I cannot get rid of it in the copied presentation. I deselect the checkbox and even deleted the link, but every time I save it, the background image is coming back. That is one.

The second problem is that Z-ordering does not work. I added a new placeholder to the back, but typing in Z-ordering value does not bring a placeholder back. It stays where it was.

Not sure if you were aware of these issues. Also, how about arrows or 'drag and drop' for placeholder ordering function? Are you considering any of those?

Update: I also in the new editor do not see an option that would allow me assigning presentation as template.

Hi Darius,
I am working on duplicating the points raised here and then log an issue where appropriate.  Thanks for taking the time to share your findings with us!

Hi Darius,
I've opened a new issue about the background image as I was able to replicate.

Thanks for putting adding the points about the z-order/layers.  The ordering is lowest to highest with the highest z-order number being the topmost element.  For example in this screenshot the box is z-order 3, clouds z-order 2, background z-order 1.

The Apps team have been notified of this thread about the other points raised. Thanks again for sharing!

No problem Javier,

Here is something else I found bothersome in Google Spreadsheet and Text Widgets. Thy are using different color gamut values. Spreadsheet is taking RGB and Text is taking HEX values. It is not a big deal, but just does not look right. Also, there is slight color shift when FEX gets converted to RGB.

I also wish you have considered adding shadow effect for text in these widgets. It is basic HTML and can give one more addition option for designing. I cannot find the way adding shadows manually as i was able to do on some gadgets.

As always, thank you for the feedback Darius. I've updated our backlog to have these points addressed, but curious to know what your process was for custom styles before the Text Widget.

Hi, I have an issue with the new editor to report. I have noticed that 'visible' checkbox (placeholder properties) is not doing anything. While working on a couple of presentations I tried to hide some of the content temporarily and it did not work for me. I had to remove (not ideal when you need just to see how that would look with or without it) items in order to make them disappear.  Also, 'distribution' settings appears not to do anything as well when I tried removing the same content from all of the displays.

Darius,

I was able to recreate the Visible checkbox issue, however my distribution for a Placehcolder is working as expected. I set it to show on only one Display, and it only shows on that Display.

If you set that to zero Displays, that will make it disappear on all Displays. At least it did for me. are you doing this at https://apps.risevision.com? I'm getting an issue logged for that Visible checkbox.

Thanks!

Robb, it is Win 10.

That's what I was on as well...weird. I can't really say what the issue would be. Any chance you can try another Win 10 box to see if you can recreate?

Robb, I just did some testing on two displays with the same presentation, and I have your answers:

Visiblility ON

with all displays selected - works as expected, placeholder is visible on both displays
with only one display selected - works as expected, placeholder is visible on that one particular display only
with no displays selected - works just as all displays selected, placeholder is visible on all displays and this is what I did not expect to happen.

Darius,

Agreed, I see what you mean. The easy workaround for this is to just unselect Visible :)

I will get a bug logged for this, but for right now, unchecking Visible should work for you, correct?

Robb, deselecting 'Visible' is not a workaround, but the proper way to go about it. I simply noticed the other 'bug,' with publishing content to selected or deselected in this case displays and though it is something u need to know of )))
