Android Rise Vision Player : Cenique or Scott’s Digital Signage ?

I am going to test out both Android Rise Vision Player. For those who are using the above mentioned player, do you know what are the differences compare to the original Rise Vision player? Any limitation?

I am likely to give up Raspberry Pi and invest my time on Android. Pi is not really cost effective and the performance is very bad.

Besides the above mentioned 2 players, is there a 3rd alternative?

Because later Android versions don't include Flash, things like Video may not work (we utilize a Flash player in order to run MP4, MOV, FLV videos). WebMs are used with an HTML5 player. YouTube videos aren't supported - and apparently playback is hit or miss with that.

Your best bet would be to get a player that has KitKat on it (4.4). You may also need to investigate which ROM it has as it can play a role in the resolution the device will support.

If you get a device with 4.2 (Jelly Bean), then I know that William has a Gadget that will show videos on it.

I'm not aware of a 3rd alternative to Android players at this time.

Thanks.
I'm having the same problem, I got pictures to work but not videos to work. I've tried using both Cenique and Scott's Digital Signage! None works so far! How should I proceed?

You need to use the android html5 video player with MP4 to get it to work with the my rise player. The rise video widget does not work at this time. If your using 4.2.2 you need to use the my rise player test.
Hi William!

I'm using 4.0.4 version of the Android TV Box system and so far I've solved the video problem with your suggestion solution. But now that I view the video it works in slowmotion, it kinda laggs & is in low quality.

I've tried showing in mp4 file, but WebM file format is the only format that has worked for me so far!

How do you suggest me to proceed to fix the problem?

Thanks

We do not support anything thats under 4.2.2 at this time. Video shouldn't even work on that version to begin with since autoplay wasn't allowed until 4.2 or api 17. Odd that it runs in slow motion but as far as support we have nothing under 4.2.2 to test with. If its 4.4 then try using the my rise test player on the play store if available.

has this changed lately? I'm using a stick with Scott's and only getting 720p (1280 x 720) even though player says it supports 1920 x 1280

If your device is reporting 1280x720 then this is likely true. Some of the older devices only had 720p kernels. They used the 1080p setting to upscale 720p but left the device resolution the same. To check this you need to download a resolution checker. If it reports the same as mine then you need a custom rom with a 1080p kernel to get 1920x1080.

Cenique was working but it seems like there is an issue now. Unable to see or select from library and paste the location from library results in black screen (using the 410). Scott's was working in the past as well and can currently select from the library but same black screen. Will try clearing the cache when I visit the locations.
I'm using 360p (198MB MP4) for a ten minute video.

If your using the My Rise Player app. Use the android video player and not the video item or video widget. Also you could just send a restart to the device and it should clear the cache while restarting the app. Also you might try the My Rise Player Chrome Edition in the play store which will bring the webview version to chrome 43. Thanks

I'm using the cenique player with the Cenique video player (android) which is not functioning Android 4.4.2. I've tried to add an google account to hit up the play store and even to update to 4.4.4 but the systems says it has checked for an update and none available. I am unable to get to the play store on the device, there are no network issues.

The cenique devices are a bit different and you might need to contact them on that. The device firmware will never get updated through regular updates to 4.4 unless cenique offers a firmware for it. I would talk to them first and see what they have to say. I know the hardware and devices they use but i don't know there software enough to help out with there app.
