Hi there,

I've been using rise vision for some digital signage for about 6 months now with varied success, but I've finally encountered an issue which has me stumped.

Right now I am working on this presentation :http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=ae360507-707b-4b39-b0b3-77acac066...

This is going to go in the showroom of the dealership so people can sign up for the contest easily. The intended behavior is that if the user is idle for a certain amount of time it will refresh the page (to limit shoulder surfing, and reload the page after a submission).

It's working, but the console in the RV player is giving me this error whenever it tried to reload and the server does not return a fresh page.
Unable to post message to http://rvashow.appspot.com. Recipient has origin http://s3.amazonaws.com.
I'm using this javascript code to trigger the refresh:
window.location.reload(false);
I'm wondering if anyone a little more experienced with risevision or javascript has any ideas?

Joe,

I don't have an answer for you on why this is happening yet, but I would like to know if you've tried the web page widget to display the google form, and if so does it have the same issue?

HI Blake,

I did try the web-page widget but had 2 issues with that which is why I tried this route.
- I did get the same issue, but it wouldn't load the page in the first place. With the HTML widget I've loaded it in an iframe which seems to work at least initially. If I refresh only the iframe with the javascript something similar happens which is why I tried a whole-page refresh.
- I wouldn't be able to script in the refresh if idle if I had to embed the whole page as it's hosted on google's server and I can't put scripts on the form it's self. (it's possible I've approached this wrong and am open to approaching it differently if someone has an idea)

Joe,

I've spoken with a member of our creative department, and while he doesn't have a specific solution to your problem, he does have a couple of suggestions for you.

The first is to add a manual refresh button as outlined here. You could change the verbiage of the refresh button to a submit, or something similar.
He also added that when he sees people adding a refresh interval to a webpage, it's with javascript inside of a meta tag as outlined here.

That being said, I can't really offer any support of these options as they are both outside of the RVA platform. I hope you find something that works for you!

I did just figure it out in a roundabout way. Thanks for your help!
