Youtube Video Stops Playing
Working on a presentation that has a youtube video in it. The video will play for 30 minutes to an hour and then stop and not progress past the "replay" option. This issue seems tied to issue #65 http://goo.gl/s8xND except instead of 2-3 plays through it lasts about an hour before it stops playing. I believe the two issues are related. There are two video IDs in the presentation set to PUD.
-
Do both videos have the issue or just one?
Can you email support@risevision.com with a link to the Presentation, and let us know which video is having the issue?
Thanks. -
-
Also I forgot to ask, which OS is this Presentation running on?
-
-
Both videos are the same and they play constantly. They are using windows 7.

Don,
Thanks for emailing over the Presentation, we have got it running on a Windows 7 and Linux box now and will let you know if we see the same issue occurring.
One quick question, is there a specific reason why there are 2 instances of the Youtube Gadget with the same video ID as the only two items in the Placeholder?
Thanks. -
-
That is the way it was built and as my understanding it is because of a suggested fix from issue #65 http://goo.gl/s8xND from what I have gathered it was the only way to get the original video to keep playing as suggested by having both selected for PUD.

Also I forgot to mention there is another copy of the presentation that uses flash to play the video but it also has the same problem where it will play for maybe an hour and then stop. Should I email a link to that version as well to support@risevision?

Issue 65 was fixed and deployed over a year ago and there have been several changes since then, therefore I think you can safely remove the second video from the Playlist. Sorry I should have mentioned that earlier.
If the Flash file is duplicated in the Placeholder of the other Presentation, I would recommend doing the same thing, removing the second instances of the Flash file, and see if it will play correctly for longer than one hour. Also make sure that the correct option, either "Movie" or "Application" is selected for the Flash file if you are playing it with the Flash Gadget.
If you continue to see issues after removing the second instance of the Flash file, you can email a link to that Presentation .
Thanks. -

Ok I will try removing the duplicate of the youtube video and watch it. The flash version is not duplicated it only has the one video in the presentation.

Just to confirm, you are using the Rise Vision Flash Gadget, and have you tried both Movie and Application as the file type? Do they both result in the same issue?
Thanks. -

Ok, I am having the same problem with only one video playing. After about 45 minutes it stops and never restarts. When I use the flash gadget it only shows a small logo on the screen but does not play the flash video either.

Thanks for the update.
I have had the Presentation going for a couple of hours now with a single YouTube video on my Linux Player without any troubles. When I last heard from Robb, it was still going on his Display as well. I know he's currently in a meeting at the moment so won't be able to post an update as to how his Displays are running until afterwards. -

Neither here nor at the clients location does the video continue to play. The client is using Windows 7. So that may be why its working on your linux player but that is not what they have.

My Windows 7 Player is still going strong since I fired it up this morning after removing the extra video.
Don, you may want to try clearing the cache on the Display, and seeing if this helps. Please let us know if you continue to see the issue after clearing the cache.
If we can't nail down exactly what the issue is, you may want to consider downloading the vid from Youtube, and converting it to an MP4 that you could keep at a repository like Amazon or Dropbox, just until we determine what is causing the issue.
Thanks. -

No problem Don, let us know how you make out.

Hey Robb, Just wanted to let you know after the video was converted to MP4 it has played with no problem. Thank You

Awesome to hear Don!
Let us know if you have any other issues.
Thanks! -
