Do you recommend a specific remote monitoring service? I've heard some are using LogMeIn to access their remote players. Wondered if there's a reason people like that one, or if others are just as good. Are there free softwares that will do this?
Gotomypc.com is another, and I wondered if it's as good.

There are all sorts of remote connections tools out there, all with their own pro's and cons. We don't really recommend any specifically, but my personal top choices for offsite Displays are LogMeIn and Teamviewer, and for Displays that are in your network, RealVNC.
RealVNC shouldn't be used if the Displays are outside of your network, but if they are inside your network, RealVNC is fantastic.
LogMeIn has a free version (which is the only version I have ever used), and works great, and gives a lot of info about how the Computer is doing when you connect to it.
TeamViewer is also really good, and I have always connected to Displays for free, however I don't know if you have to pay to have it running on the Display itself.
Anyone else have any favorites for remote connections? -

We use Teamviewer as well. We purchased a single user licence for it as the Free version isn't meant to be used on a wide variety of displays. It's more meant for personal use to connect to 1 or 2 computers. If you use the free version to connect to too many other displays it detects a possible corporate type usage and doesn't always let you in. Also when using the free version it pops up a window on the remote computer stating "thanks for playing fair" which is kind of goofy when its a remote player. The purchased licence takes care of all of that and allows you to set up lists of players for quick access.
They have different version of the program as well. So for remote players we use the "unattended servers" version. For troubleshooting with customers we use the "quicksupport" version, on my computers I have the "full version" and they also offer a few others. As I have the full version on mine I can use it as a presentation software as well to train customers.
In the past we have used Kaseya which incorporates a lot of IT technologies. We have also used LogMeIn.
For onsite troubleshooting of our LED signs we also use UltraVNC which works pretty slick. -

I use both Logmein and Teamviewer.
If you are Remote connecting to a PC media player, i would recommend Logmein since you will have the "screen blanking" functionality - whereas teamviewer does not have this (as far as i'm aware).
If you are connecting to a mac, use either - since you cannot blank the screen on a mac with logmein (correct me if i'm wrong!)
On ubuntu or linux - you will need to use teamviewer - no logmein support yet for linux. (you can xfer files n such with hamachi/logmein though)
Good luck! -
