Which is more important in a PC to run RV - RAM or video chip?

We are running an RV presentation using an old Dell with a 3 GHz pent processor (single core), Win XP home, NVidia GeForce video card, and 1 GB of RAM. It runs the presentation OK (which is two zones of jpgs and a zone of swf files); the presentation is set for all three zones to play 30 seconds.

It runs this fine for about a day and a half, and then the paging file or something loads up and we need to restart the box.

I know we're asking for trouble to run this old system but we're in a penny pinching mode.

I mainly want to know whether the RAM or the video chip is the controlling factor to successful operation.

Unfortunately there is no simple answer, as there are different Presentations, different content, different Gadgets to play that content, etc, etc.

I'd recommend taking a read of the Hardware Recommendations discussion, and in if you are seeing the Page File rise up after a certain amount of time, you may want to run a scheduled task that would kill the Player, Chromium, and Polipo, wait one minute, and then start the Player back up again from the Start Menu shortcut (which will start Polipo and Chromium). This way you drop the page file and start from from scratch, and it is all automatic.

    Hope that helps!
