Which way is better:
1. A presentation contents multiple video clips?
or
2. A schedule contents multiple single clip presentations?
I'm running method 2 and the players have error: "Shockwave has crashed" all the time.
Please advise.
Thanks.
Presentation with multiple clips or A schedule with multiple presentations

Unfortunately the answer is never as simple as one vs the other, but there is a great way to test what works better on that specific Display.
You should check out this blog post regarding testing your Presentations on your Displays. To test, I'd recommend removing all videos, and inserting them again one by one. This way you can tell if it is a specific video that is causing the issue, OR if there is a tipping point where the Display just can't handle any more videos in the Presentation.
Let us know how you make out.

what should I put for the duration?
another question: is there any email notification which notifies me that the player is down or not working properly? -
-
Monitoring is available for when Displays go offline. Check out this help page for more information on setting it up.
The duration is completely up to you. If you are showing items such as YouTube videos, that Gadget supports play until done so that when it completes the video, it automatically progresses to the next item in the Playlist. -

I still dont understand the purpose of Duration option. I host the video clips on box.com and I'm not using any Gadgets or Youtube link video. I'm using my own clips. Can you pls help me understand the duration? Do I have to put entire duration of each clip in second in this field?
-
-
Sorry, I misunderstood what you were referring to. If you are playing a video (using the Video Item), then the duration is ignored. It will play the video to the conclusion and then proceed to the next item.
-
-
that would clarify... but just another concern that when I set the duration to 0 then the player skipped to the next item. Is this true?
Btw, is there issue with RV login? I cannot login to RV right now. -

Phil,
We are having some issues now as outlined in this recent update.
You are correct, if you mark the duration as 0, that content item will not be rendered and therefore will not show up. -
-
I'm playing just the videos and if I leave the duration at 10 then the video will jump back and forth every 10 sec. Until I put the exact duration in second of the video then it plays fine. Please advise.

Phil,
As Neal stated previously, there is no duration option for videos. Is is possible you are playing the video using Youtube or Vimeo? -
-
I host my videos on Box.com. I have 3 presentations which each of them is a video hosted Box.com
-
-
OK, so if I understand you correctly, you have those 3 Presentations embedded into a "master" Presentation, and you have set a duration of 10 seconds for those embedded Presentations, is that correct?
The Embedded Presentations will only play for the duration you specify and will ignore the duration of the video. To play the entire video in the Presentation, I would recommend adding them as video items directly into the Presentation.
Let me know if I am missing something.
Thanks. -
-
Yes that what I did, adding each video as a video item in each presentation. So the schedule contains 3 presentations all together and if I leave value of 10 in duration, the video will jump back and forth. But if I put the exact length then it plays ok.

-
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "jumps back and forth", can you email support@risevision.com with a link to your Presentation so we can see for ourselves?
Just to clarify, if you enter a value of 10 seconds into the duration of the embedded Presentations, it will only play 10 seconds of that video, and then move to the next embedded Presentation, and play 10 seconds of that video and so on. It will not play the entire video.
I look forward to your email.
