The ability to use Rise Vision for a video wall, or dual screen
I tried setting up a dual screen with a presentation recently. No problem stretching/sharing the video signal...however when I start Rise it only shows on one monitor, and not 2. Anyone have any ideas?

At this time, our player is set up to only go across a single display. Having said this, our API is set so that a custom player can be built. A few of our users have built their own player and have it playing across multiple displays.

Hey Alex, if this is a requirement and needed by the community, and they want to vote it up, we can move it into the product plan. I.e. multi display support... Let us know. Thanks!

Byron, I actually think this to be one of the most powerful features of the new platform.
Without anymore worry of subscription billing, this opens up incredibly cost effective solutions. Not only can we create video walls, but we can drive multiple monitors with different content using one appliance.
I'm all for voting it up, I hope everyone else sees the value too! -

CHAMP
I’m
interested
I'd like to see this get explored as well.
Particularly, the digital menu board market is really starting to explode, and this functionality along with the new platform's features, would definitely give us Rise Network Operators a serious advantage! -

Remember if you want this feature included in the product plan to hit the "I like this idea!" button. Thanks!

CHAMP
I’m
wired and excited.
As I'm thinking more about this, I really think this would be the biggest cost saver of any digital signage application out there. This is the way to use one presentation to put different content on different monitors...with one player.
I don't know about everyone else, but I would think that if the programming cost is an issue, getting several DS champs together to kick in some cash would be well worth it in the future. This addition could mean thousands of dollars saved in equipment and installation costs for us. To me, we could bid projects with almost no comparison to anyone else.
I'll see if I can rally anyone else to join in on voting this up. Byron, or Robb, is there any way to message other people...or invite people to this post? -
-
I'll be doing my "Cool Forum Posts for the Week" Blog Post tomorrow, so I will include this post in there. I will also tweet the blog post, and share this post on our Facebook page to see if that gets some other users in here to cast their votes.
Thanks! -

has anyone tried working with a graphics card that can simply make your desktop resolution the size of 2 screens wide? Then one would only need to make a presentation that size and work with the appropriate spaces.
Just a thought... -

Avi, I have done this before on a several occasions. A lot of players nowadays also come with dual video outputs, which allow you to do just that. And if you purchase a player with Quad outputs...4 monitors, and Six outputs for 6 monitors...well, you get the idea!

Hey Guys, just checking in on this topic to see if there's any plans in the works for this?

Alex,
Still haven't been able to get Chromium to go across multiple screens, so the answer to this is that we haven't found a solution for this yet, but we are looking into it.
Trust me, when we do discover an effective way to do this, we will let everyone know :)
Thanks for checking in, it keeps us on our toes! -
-
:) Much appreciated, and I have complete confidence that you guys will find a way. Thanks for the update!

Hey Robb, I'm sure you guys are well aware of this, but I was poking around and found the chromium bug reporting forum.
I looked up the reported issues and saw some related posts about multiple monitor support, but not much that really matches.
Here's the link to the forum: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/iss...
Just sharing what I found -

I think some of our Developers live in that Issue site :).

I am currently testing running one presentation on multiple displays. It has been running for the last 24 hours with no major issues. I will post more after I am finished with all testing.

I'm also giving this my vote! At minimum, for a setup with 2 or 3 panels, it would be a huge money and energy saver to have only one PC driving them instead of two -- especially for presentations without a lot of complex content, I feel like I'm being wasteful both economically and ecologically to have to deploy multiple PCs...Good luck with this!

I'd like to see the platform have multi-display compatibility :)
I'm well aware this is only a Google issue, but since we are brainstorming new ideas...I thought I'd throw it out there! Who knows, maybe there's another way to do it?

Is there any way to run 2 presentations simultaneously on a system? One displaying a window fullscreen on one display, and the other on another display. I came across this forum talking about using Applescript to run Chrome full screen simultaneously on 2 -3 displays on a Mac Mini.
Any chance something similar would be of interest?
Obviously the limitation here would be the extended screen, but you could forseeably run 2 presentations at once. -

Aaron,
I don't think there is any way to run 2 Players on one system, at least not any way that myself or our Developers are aware of.
Sorry! -

Can I run my presentation to multiple displays inside a building using only one player?

You bet! There are a number of good video distribution systems out there. Search Google for video distribution systems that run over cat5e/6. You essentially plug your media player's video output into a distribution/transmitter unit that will run the signal over standard network cable, and for long runs too. Then, there is a small receiver unit on the display end that converts the signal back to VGA, HDMI, etc.
StarTech, SmartAvi, MiniCom, and Geffen are just a few companies that make these systems. You can get single port transmitters/extenders for one display, or transmitters that split into multiple outputs for multiple displays. You can even branch them off of eachother, say, one cable run to each floor from a server room, then a separate distribution unit on each floor out to the displays. Cool stuff! -

HI Markus, I don't think it would quite work that way but I don't know the LG/Samsung setup that well. My opinion is that that set up is replicating the signal of the first output that would be at say 1920x1080.
You can certainly create a presentation in that resolution but getting a video card via 1 output to output that resolution is probably the bigger trick as the player software doesn't bridge multiple displays in windows.
For example with an NEC screen you can put the display in TileMatrix mode where you can output from your media player 1920x1080 into the first screen then use a digital loop to connect the screens together and from there have each screen grab it's section of the content. This mode "scales" the content across all the displays and works best for a 2x2 or a 3x3 monitor configurations where you are using the same aspect ratio of 16:9
I hope that helps. -
