I know this is a windows issue, but even though I set the task bar to "auto-hide" on SOME restarts, the task bar will stay up.
I don't see consistency with this, so I'm not entirely sure what the cause is.
My guess would be that the mouse pointer just happened to be left at the bottom of the screen. So if that's what it is, then everyone make sure you push the mouse pointer to the top of the screen before finishing your setup! :)
It's fun to solve my own problems mid-way through typing.

I've also noticed that some programs that will bring up message "balloons" on the taskbar like the Divx Updater or Windows Security Alerts will bring up the taskbar when you don't want it to.
