I have some resources that are sensitive enough to not be shown outside of our building. This means that they can not be uploaded to publicly available sites but can be shared openly on our intranet.
In searching the forum I see that linking to local resources is not directly supported but I attempted to use IIS to share images to my displays and that does not seem to work either. Do Rise Vision's servers need access to said resources or is it enough that they are accessible by local URL (i.e. 10.XX.XX.XXX/images/myimage.jpg)?

Edward,
Unfortunately we haven't done any sort of testing of using local content or an internal server running IIS, and all the answers in the forum regarding this have just been possibilities that we brought up to users to try.
I'm not aware of any part of our platform needs access to anything other than the Display itself needs access to the repository where the content is stored.
Can you open a browser on the actual Display and try to navigate to the content item and does it show up? If that works, can you log into the system on the Display and try to preview your Presentation, does that work?
Let us know how you make out, I'll see if I can get any more information on my side.
Thanks! -

As a test I uploaded a new background image (not sensitive) to my IIS webserver's images directory. From the display computer I can navigate to the URL of the image without providing any form of authentication (presumably needing authentication would keep the display from being able to utilize the content).
I then add the same URL into the background of my display using the rise vision web interface (from another computer) and publish that presentation.
The display then shows a blank background.
Any thoughts as to what would cause this behavior? -

Edward,
Does the background image show up when you preview the Presentation on the Display itself? -

I have no idea what happened... Upon coming into the office this morning the method that I described above is now working. Thanks for the quick response!!

I keep telling my coworkers that my magic is a real thing, hopefully this makes them believe :).
Glad to hear it is working, let us know if you have any other issues.
Thanks! -
